Shaker Jewelry Boxes 
I am fairly certain that the Shakers did not make jewlery boxes per see. And to the best of my knowledge the jewelry box and its style originated wtih John Wilson. Our shaker jewelry boxes contain a top tray with an empty bottom area. Well that is not strictly correct any longer. We now craft jewelry boxes with three or four layers of carriers or trays. There are short and wide boxes, tall boxes, or even round ones. What we have learned is that jewelry boxes are very personal for the owner. So most of what we now fashion are personalized for the size, number of inserts, and top wood. And here is where we bring out that limited supply of figured and burled top woods, to make a truely 'one of a kind jewelry box'. Our Shaker reproduction and Shaker inspired products are made in the traditional manner. Each item is individually crafted and no two are ever exactly alike. The swallowtails are held together with copper tacks made on a machine that was making tacks over 100 years ago. Our finishing process is described in our article Shaker Wood Finishes .
