Shaker Presentation Boxes 
There is a one known example of this type of oval box, but several references to them. The Shakers make them to present (thus the origin of the name Presentation Box) to their relatives when they came to visit them in their community. Often they would contain other special Shaker made items. This box is narrower and shorter than other oval boxes. The swallowtails are long and narrow for the most distinguished of looks. Often I have stocks of other highly figured or burled veneer plywoods that will fit these Presentation Boxes; if interested please contact us. Of all the boxes, trays, and carriers that I make, this is my favorite.
Our Shaker reproduction and Shaker inspired products are made in the traditional manner. Each item is individually crafted and no two are ever exactly alike. The swallowtails are held together with copper tacks made on a machine that was making tacks over 100 years ago. Our finishing process is described in our article Shaker Wood Finishes .
