NEW for 2011 are our redesigned spool holders. These holders are found in many of our sewing boxes and have been redesigned to use 1/8" brass rods rather than 1/4" wooden dowels for the spool holder rods. This allows for acceptance of more modern thread spools. The Shaker sewing box is our best selling product. And they are our most customized creation. For these boxes we reserve our finest and most varied collection of top woods. We make several styles of inserts and thread holders for our sewing boxes. So please don't hesitate to get the sewing box that is best for you. We have been asked to designed a smaller sewing box for those people just taking up quilting and sewing. We have done that by replacing the spool holder with a felt bottom pin cushion. We have retained the divided tray carrier but resized it to fit in our size 4 swing handle carrier. Our size #5 sewing boxes have the most versatility. Sixteen spools of thread can be stored on the removable insert, while the divided tray carrier is ideal for scissors, cutters or notions. All of this is stored within our size five tall swing handle carrier. The thread holder can be replaced with a sub-divided bottom to reduce costs and allow for larger inserts. We are happy to introduce our two larger size sewing boxes. Our size #6 Shaker Sewing box contains a 16 spool holder with pincushion and tray; or it contains a jewelry tray with sub-divided bottom. The problem inherent with larger sized sewing boxes has been solved by using taller boxes. Therefore our largest size is our #8 Tall Shaker Sewing Box equipped with a divided bottom. Please inquire about additional inserts for this box. Our Shaker reproduction and Shaker inspired products are made in the traditional manner. Each item is individually crafted and no two are ever exactly alike. The swallowtails are held together with copper tacks made on a machine that was making tacks over 100 years ago.
